July 4th Fireworks, NO Blast for Pets, Keep them Safe
Don’t take your pets to fireworks displays.
Rather, keep them safe at home INDOORS in a quiet sheltered area. Leave the TV on for them at a normal sound to help distract them from the loud nosies outside.
Don’t leave them in the car.
To help alleviate the fear and anxiety your pet may experience, Rescue Remedy, a natural remedy found at health food stores, usually helps to calm your pet during fireworks displays.
Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. When they are frightened and scared, they will get out, or get tangled up in their own chain, risking death or injuries. More dogs get loose and are lost on the Fourth of July more than any other day.
Make sure your pets have ID tags on.
And, please don’t let your dog be around any fireworks, even if he’s not afraid. A video of a dog and a fireworks accident, HERE.

Treatment for anxiety?
Question by intothebliss: Treatment for anxiety?
I have really bad anxiety. What are the best treatments for chronic, intense worry and anxiety? I will consider pharmaceuticals, herbs, supplements, and anything else.
I really need to get a handle on this because it creates a lot of problems in my life (job, etc.) and my relationships.
I have tried a number of antidepressants in the past. None of them did a thing except Celexa, which made my anxiety DISAPPEAR!! However, I had extreme side effects that forced me to go off the medication. This experience made me believe that my anxiety is chemically based.

I want a new drug
One that won’t make me sick
One that won’ t make me crash my car
Or make me feel three feet thick
I want a new drug
One that won’t hurt my head
One that won’t make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red
One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
I want a new drug
One that does what it should
One that won’t make me feel too bad
One that won’t make me feel too good
I want a new drug
One with no doubt
One that won’t make me talk too much
Or make my face break out
One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you

The best times were when he got a cold. The drug combinations were of deadly proportunes and he would sleep for what seemed like weeks straight. Which reminds me of another one of his idosynracies: he wouldn’t let me open any windows. If you’ve lived in new york, you know the heat comes in via a radiator that you don’t control. Your only options are to open windows in the middle of winter. But he wouldn’t stand for that. So it would be like 100 degrees inside (and with those lights on it felt like you were living on the sun). He’d walk around all winter only in boxers because it was so hot, but if you even cracked a window he noticed and started screaming that he was going to catch a cold and die. If only.

The Blue Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea), also known as the Common Passion Flower, is a vine native to southern Brazil and Argentina (where it is known as the Pasionaria or Mburucuyá in Guaraní). These names may also be applied to Passiflora edulis sometimes known as the passionfruit’.
It is popular with gardeners because of its intricate, scented flowers that have an almost plastic-looking appearance. The unusual shape of the flowers has led to the plant being associated in Christian symbolism with the passion of Jesus; the three stigmas representing the three nails used to nail Jesus to the cross, the ovary and its stalk represent the chalice of the Last Supper, the five anthers represent the five wounds, the corona represents the crown of thorns, the ten ‘petals’ (actually five petals and five sepals) the apostles (save Judas the traitor and Peter the denyer); the old leaves also represent the hands of those who persecuted him, the young leaves the point of the lance used to stab him, and the tendrils the whips of those who beat him.
It is cultivated worldwide. Even though the fruit is edible, it is rather insipid when eaten raw. It can substitute for blackberries. More palatable is the fruit of the Passiflora edulis which is sweet and acidic. A tea can be made of the flower and is said to alleviate stress and anxiety. However, cyanogenic glycoside (breaks down into cyanide) has been found in the leaves. It is possible to boil away most of the cyanide.

Just when I was focusing the cocoon of the flower, this one was opened suddenly. Still it is possible to see how the petals are not flat nor the stamens are in place.
Justo cuando estaba enfocando el capullo de la flor, ésta se abrió de repente. Aún se puede ver cómo los pétalos no están planos ni los estambres colocados.

SinusWars has Discovered the Link between Stress and Sinusitis.
NY,NY (PRWEB) August 04, 2011
Psychoneurobiology is a whole new field of study that explores the ways our emotions impact on our physical well-being. It is accepted that stress and anxiety affect the immune system, endocrine system as well as neurological functions. By affecting these systems of the body, the body can be made physically ill.
There have been extensive studies done to demonstrate that being under continuous stress can cause infections and hence inflammation of the nasal and sinus membranes. Apart from bad habits such as smoking, stress can cause habits such as blowing the nose forcefully and rubbing it frequently. This will cause irritation that also leads to inflammation and sometimes bleeding. The body also becomes susceptible to viruses and bacteria when the immune system is under stress.
SinusWars research and development department has formulated an easy to carry natural remedy, SinusWars15. SinusWars15 was designed not only to calm your nerves but your entire body. SinusWars15 provides a full calming effect, It is like having yoga in a bottle says the CEO Treveshen Padayachee.
SinusWars15 not only targets sinusitis but removes the trigger in this case being stress. Adaptogens are substances that help the body cope with stress and the homeopathic ingredients within SinusWars15 work as adaptogens.
One of the ingredients Argentum Nitricum deals with a whole range of complications due to stress. Its actions are so vast that it even remedies people who are in a hurry. It is a particularly good ingredient for people with nervous dispositions. The immune system needs to be regulated during periods of stress and that is what Abrus Precatorius does. It also serves as a nerve tonic and relieves emotional shock or trauma. Adrenalinum is an ingredient that gets rid of excess watery nasal discharge. It also relieves pressure at the root of the nose.
Nux vomica will help the digestive complaints as well as high blood pressure due to stress. It also controls mood swings that are brought on by stress. An ingredient that acts specifically on the nervous system is Viburnum Opulus. It treats sinusitis as well as regulating nerve function and stress hormones. The lowered immune system is given a boost with Zincum Metallicum. Sleep patterns are regulated and general stress levels.
In summary the following symptoms are treated by SinusWars15:
????Stress, all forms
????Sinusitis and stress
????A weakened immune system due to stress
????A hypersensitive nervous system
????Stress headaches
????Fatigue and low mood that is associated with stress
Sometimes all the body needs is a nudge in the right direction. SinusWars15 will allow the body to get back to functioning optimally and emotions will be balanced in such a way as to give the mental confidence back to live a healthier lifestyle thereby preventing the recurrence of symptoms.

New CE Course from HealthForumOnline on Overcoming Stigmas of Sexually Transmitted Infections

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) December 14, 2011
HealthForumOnline (HFO), a nationally-approved (APA, ASWB, NBCC, PSNA, CA-BBS) provider of online continuing education (CE) for psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals announces the addition of a new online CE/CEU course, Promoting Sexual Health Among Young Adults: Getting Past the Stigmas of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) to their extensive online CE resource library.
Nearly 50% of the 19 million new cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) reported each year in the U.S. occur among adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 24 years; with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Trichomoniasis and Chlamydia accounting for 88% of all new cases in this age group (Weinstock, Berman, & Cates, 2004). The CDC reports that young adults, aged 15 to 19 years, have 4 times the reported Chlamydia and Gonorrhea rate of the total population (CDC, 2011). However, many young adults do not perceive themselves to be at risk for STIs (e.g.; Wolfers, de Zwart, & Kok, 2011; Katz, Krieger, & Roberto, 2011).
Despite advances in medicine and changes in social mores, sexual health remains a sensitive and relatively taboo topic, for both patients and health professionals. To illustrate, evidence suggests that young adults commonly underreport STI diagnoses; with more than 50% denying ever having a medically-confirmed diagnosis of STI (Clark et al., 1997). In part, this is due to the many social stigmas and misinformation that have evolved around this topic which may perpetuate a climate of shame, confusion and anxiety about STIs. Understanding and addressing this miscommunication is critical because these distorted beliefs and attitudes can create psychosocial barriers to dissemination of necessary information about STI risk and the uptake of health-related behaviors that can dramatically reduce ones vulnerability to STI.
Mental health professionals and allied healthcare workers can play a vital role in facilitating communication, overcoming stigmas, disseminating accurate information, and promoting realistic expectations and behaviors regarding sexual health among at-risk populations such as sexually active adolescents and young adults. Toward that end, this online CE course assists behavioral health professionals by indentifying the prevalent risk factors among this vulnerable group and reviewing the commonly held beliefs and stigmas associated with STIs (e.g., HIV, Herpes Simplex Virus, HPV, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Trichomoniasis) and their psychosocial repercussions. A review of the literature on sexual health and STIs is provided to elucidate the social construction and maintenance of stigmas, as well as health-related consequences. Ways to demystify and debunk associated myths and replace them with accurate health-related expectations and goals within a clinical context are discussed.
Psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses and other allied health professionals can chose from HFOs 20 categories of continuing education (CE) topics related to health psychology and behavioral medicine (i.e., ethics, cancer adaptation, womens health, cultural diversity, eating disorders, reproduction/sexuality, aging/gerontology, pediatric behavioral medicine, assessment, chemical dependency, chronic/acute illness, clinical intervention, group therapy, infectious disease, long-term care, neuropsychology, pain management, spirituality, LGBT issues) containing more than 75 online CE courses that are fast, convenient and cost-effective. All HFO CE courses and supporting materials are available online or as downloadable, transportable PDFs. Participants print their own CE certificates. Lastly, HFO routinely updates our online CE courses and enables customers to review these updates for free even after they have completed the CE activity and generated their CE certificate.
For more information on this course or a complete listing of titles in our online CE resource library, visit HealthForumOnline.com.
About HealthForumOnline:
HealthForumOnline (HFO) is approved as a provider of CE courses by the American Psychological Association, the National Board of Certified Counselors, the Association of Social Work Boards, and several state professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation, and the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. HFOs CE Programs Advisory Committee and authors are comprised of over 60 nationally-recognized experts in behavioral medicine.
