I am without health insurance, and suffer from moderate anxiety/depression (diagnosed by my doctor) and am looking for information on herbal or natural remedies to help calm my anxiety. I have tried st. johns wart more than once, and didn’t notice any difference, and I am looking for other herbs and such that might help, preferably with knowledge from experience.

Valerian might help. To instantly calm you down a powder supplement called Calms by Peter Gillham (is magnesium) works really well but you have to be careful because too much magnesium can cause diarrhea.

July 4th Fireworks, NO Blast for Pets, Keep them Safe
Don’t take your pets to fireworks displays.
Rather, keep them safe at home INDOORS in a quiet sheltered area. Leave the TV on for them at a normal sound to help distract them from the loud nosies outside.
Don’t leave them in the car.
To help alleviate the fear and anxiety your pet may experience, Rescue Remedy, a natural remedy found at health food stores, usually helps to calm your pet during fireworks displays.
Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. When they are frightened and scared, they will get out, or get tangled up in their own chain, risking death or injuries. More dogs get loose and are lost on the Fourth of July more than any other day.
Make sure your pets have ID tags on.
And, please don’t let your dog be around any fireworks, even if he’s not afraid. A video of a dog and a fireworks accident, HERE.

Treatment for anxiety?
Question by intothebliss: Treatment for anxiety?
I have really bad anxiety. What are the best treatments for chronic, intense worry and anxiety? I will consider pharmaceuticals, herbs, supplements, and anything else.
I really need to get a handle on this because it creates a lot of problems in my life (job, etc.) and my relationships.
I have tried a number of antidepressants in the past. None of them did a thing except Celexa, which made my anxiety DISAPPEAR!! However, I had extreme side effects that forced me to go off the medication. This experience made me believe that my anxiety is chemically based.

I want a new drug
One that won’t make me sick
One that won’ t make me crash my car
Or make me feel three feet thick
I want a new drug
One that won’t hurt my head
One that won’t make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red
One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
I want a new drug
One that does what it should
One that won’t make me feel too bad
One that won’t make me feel too good
I want a new drug
One with no doubt
One that won’t make me talk too much
Or make my face break out
One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you

The best times were when he got a cold. The drug combinations were of deadly proportunes and he would sleep for what seemed like weeks straight. Which reminds me of another one of his idosynracies: he wouldn’t let me open any windows. If you’ve lived in new york, you know the heat comes in via a radiator that you don’t control. Your only options are to open windows in the middle of winter. But he wouldn’t stand for that. So it would be like 100 degrees inside (and with those lights on it felt like you were living on the sun). He’d walk around all winter only in boxers because it was so hot, but if you even cracked a window he noticed and started screaming that he was going to catch a cold and die. If only.

ENGLISH
The Blue Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea), also known as the Common Passion Flower, is a vine native to southern Brazil and Argentina (where it is known as the Pasionaria or Mburucuyá in Guaraní). These names may also be applied to Passiflora edulis sometimes known as the passionfruit’.
It is popular with gardeners because of its intricate, scented flowers that have an almost plastic-looking appearance. The unusual shape of the flowers has led to the plant being associated in Christian symbolism with the passion of Jesus; the three stigmas representing the three nails used to nail Jesus to the cross, the ovary and its stalk represent the chalice of the Last Supper, the five anthers represent the five wounds, the corona represents the crown of thorns, the ten ‘petals’ (actually five petals and five sepals) the apostles (save Judas the traitor and Peter the denyer); the old leaves also represent the hands of those who persecuted him, the young leaves the point of the lance used to stab him, and the tendrils the whips of those who beat him.
It is cultivated worldwide. Even though the fruit is edible, it is rather insipid when eaten raw. It can substitute for blackberries. More palatable is the fruit of the Passiflora edulis which is sweet and acidic. A tea can be made of the flower and is said to alleviate stress and anxiety. However, cyanogenic glycoside (breaks down into cyanide) has been found in the leaves. It is possible to boil away most of the cyanide.

Just when I was focusing the cocoon of the flower, this one was opened suddenly. Still it is possible to see how the petals are not flat nor the stamens are in place.
Justo cuando estaba enfocando el capullo de la flor, ésta se abrió de repente. Aún se puede ver cómo los pétalos no están planos ni los estambres colocados.
